Orlando and Tokyo Forge New Real Estate and Travel Connections

Historic agreements and direct flights set to boost economic ties between Florida and Japan

In a significant move to strengthen international relations, Florida Realtors has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Japan-America Real Estate Coalition Office (JARECO), aiming to enhance collaboration between real estate professionals in Florida and Japan.

This agreement, formalized during the Southeast U.S.–Japan Association meeting in Tokyo, establishes a framework for sharing market data, professional training, and research initiatives.

Concurrently, ZIPAIR Tokyo, a subsidiary of Japan Airlines, has announced plans to launch the first-ever nonstop passenger flights between Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Tokyo's Narita International Airport (NRT) in early 2026.

These developments are poised to create a direct link for tourism and investment between the two regions.

“Florida’s global real estate connections continue to grow, and this new partnership with JARECO opens even more doors for collaboration, learning, and investment between Florida and Japan,” said Tim Weisheyer, President of Florida Realtors.

Weisheyer, who also served as the immediate past chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, described the upcoming flights as “a game-changer” for strengthening business ties.

JARECO leaders have highlighted Florida's appeal to Japanese investors, noting that the state combines a great lifestyle, steady economic growth, and a strong real estate sector.

Through this MoU, they hope to share more about what makes Florida special and encourage more cross-border collaboration.

Weisheyer added, “With new direct air connections and a growing appetite for cross-border investment, Florida and Japan are poised to deepen economic and professional ties. Real estate is at the center of that growth.”

The timing of these initiatives aligns with Florida’s recent elimination of the business rent tax, a move long championed by state lawmakers and Florida Realtors.

Combined with agreements like this one, it positions the Sunshine State as a magnet for global capital and reinforces its appeal as a hub for international investment.

This isn’t just a handshake in Tokyo.

The agreement signals growing international interest in Florida’s real estate market and adds momentum to the state’s economic development efforts.

With direct flights and stronger business ties on the horizon, Florida is well-positioned to benefit from increased connectivity and collaboration.

ZIPAIR's new service will operate four round-trip charter flights between Orlando and Tokyo on February 23, February 28, March 5, and March 10, 2026.

These flights will depart from Narita in the afternoon and arrive in Orlando later the same day, offering a convenient travel option for passengers.

Tickets are expected to go on sale in early December 2025.

As the first-ever nonstop passenger flights between Florida and the Asia Pacific region, this service is expected to pave the way for future flights between Orlando and Tokyo, potentially leading to regular scheduled flights if demand proves sufficient.

These developments mark a significant milestone in the relationship between Florida and Japan, promising enhanced economic opportunities and cultural exchange for both regions.
